On June 17, 2024 the Minister of Education announced new restrictions on the use of personal mobile devices and access to social media platforms for children and students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 effective September 1, 2024. See the Minister’s Letter to Parents for further information.

Our focus at Wild Rose School Division is to provide powerful learning environments that focus on both the learning and well-being of all our students. We recognize that minimizing distractions is crucial for achieving these goals and we support measures that contribute to the learning and well-being of our students.

In the coming months, our Division will develop procedures and policies in order to comply with the Government of Alberta’s Ministerial Order on the use of personal mobile devices and social media in our schools in a way that also recognizes the use of technology in supporting diverse learning needs and teaching digital citizenship for all students.  We look forward to working with our staff, students and families as we determine what this looks like for Wild Rose School Division schools.
