Matt Nielsen Nominated for Edwin Parr Teacher Award

Wild Rose School Division is pleased to announce that Matt Nielsen has been selected by our Board of Trustees to represent WRSD as our nominee for the 2015 Zone Four Edwin Parr Teacher Award. Matt is in his first year teaching at Drayton Christian School in Drayton Valley.

The Board of Trustees chose Matt because of his exceptional ability in the areas of planning, lesson preparation, lesson presentation, classroom management and involvement in school activities. In his time at DCS he has demonstrated a high level of character, commitment to his students and passion to continue to learn.

“Working with Matt is an encouragement to students and staff alike.” said Drayton Christian School Principal, Lisa Golding. “His willingness to see the best in everyone while challenging and engaging them to succeed is a gift to all those involved at DCS.”

Matt can be counted on to always be fully invested in the school community. He is constantly trying new concepts and strategies in order to help engage and ensure his students are fulfilling their learning needs. His love of teaching is very evident and it's this passion that comes through on a day to day basis that truly inspires his students.

The Edwin Parr Award recognizes outstanding work by first year teachers in Alberta. Established in 1964 it has always represented quality teaching and exemplary work. We are very proud to have Matt represent WRSD and have the opportunity to win this award.
