Educational Assistant Information / Orientation Night
Wild Rose School Division hosted an Educational Assistant Information and Orientation Night in Rocky Mountain House on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
With 28 participants in attendance, we covered topics including how to apply for casual (sub) and regular job postings. Participants learned about the CAMSEE collective agreement and the levels of remuneration for both casual and regular employees.
Our Student Support Facilitators, Ashlie Cinnamon (David Thompson High School), Leanne Chatwood (Pioneer Middle School) and Alexa Blish (Lochearn Elementary) shared tips, tools and strategies for working with students in elementary school, middle school and high school.
Other topics covered included sub plans, visual schedules, supporting students with varied needs including complex needs, academic needs and social/emotional needs.
Participants were very engaged during the presentation and shared their feedback. One participant stated: “The whole presentation was very informative, and very enlightening.” Another participant shared: “This was an awesome offering, and so informative. I’ve already begun looking at the EA certificate/requirements/etc as this is something I’d never thought of before and could see immediate value in having a pool of good EA’s. I was enthralled seeing and learning about what EA’s do, especially those with more complex kids who may require more specialized care.”
Thank you to everyone that joined us! We look forward to hosting a similar event in Drayton Valley in the coming weeks.
