Drayton Valley Bus Hub Confirmed
The Evergreen Elementary Drayton Valley Bus Hub will be opening on January 4, 2016.
At the December 15 Board Meeting, senior administration and the Board of Trustees reviewed feedback from trial run. Based on this feedback no significant problems were found and it was decided that the Drayton Valley Bus Hub is ready to officially open.
The new Bus Hub will operate according to the following guidelines:

- All shuttle students will meet at Evergreen Elementary (not the hub) Once all of the busses are parked supervisors will move students to the hub.
- All shuttle students should be at Evergreen by 8:10 am.
- No students will be allowed off the school bus until all busses are parked.
- No students will be allowed in the Hub area until all busses are parked.

December 11
This morning on Friday, December 11 the first full scale trial run was held for the Drayton Valley Bus Hub across from Evergreen Elementary. The test run had 24 buses that encompassed the full set of bus routes, including Parkland County. Bus Drivers and Bus Lane Supervisors practiced parking, arrivals and shuttling (imaginary) students to schools.
“This was the first run and even with the snow and tough conditions our drivers and safety staff performed amazingly,“ stated Transportation Manager, Kristen Fries. “The new bus hub will be a big change but I am confident it will be very beneficial for the Town of Drayton Valley, our surrounding communities and schools.”
After the test run staff gathered together to assess how the bus hub worked and discuss what needed to be improved. Overall staff felt that the initial run was very successful. The busses were able to park in a timely manner, the lot provided a safe amount of space and staff were able to supervise the location effectively. Based on this test run we are optimistic that the estimated start date of January 4, 2016 will go ahead as planned.
Moving forward feedback from the Bus Hub trial run will be gathered and reviewed at the December 15 Board Meeting.
