Covid-19 Update January 3, 2022
On December 31, 2021 the Government of Alberta announced that the Christmas break for all school divisions is to be extended until January 10, 2022. Students in Wild Rose School Division were originally scheduled to be back in school on Wednesday, January 5. However, due to this announcement, our schools will be closed on January 5, 6 and 7 and will reopen on Monday, January 10, 2022. January Diploma exams have also been cancelled.
In addition, the government announced that all K-12 students will be receiving an 8 week supply of medical grade masks. Although K-3 students are not required to wear masks, they are encouraged to do so.
In addition, all K-12 students will be receiving from the government a 5 week supply of rapid tests. These tests can be used by our students, twice per week (whether or not the student has symptoms) as a way to help provide some peace of mind or pursue further medical help if needed. Although students are not required to report the results of their rapid test to the school or the government, they are expected to adhere to the following Alberta Health Services guidelines:
- If a student has symptoms and tests positive, they need to isolate for 5 days (or until symptoms clear) if they are double vaccinated.
- If a student has symptoms and tests positive, they need to isolate for 10 days (or until symptoms clear) if they are not double vaccinated.
- If a student does not have symptoms and tests positive, they need to isolate for 24 hours and then re-test. If they are positive again, then they need to isolate as per above.
- If a student has symptoms and tests negative, they should still stay home and away from others until symptoms resolve.
- If a test result is inconclusive, they should re-test until they get either a positive or negative result.
Masks and rapid test kits will be shipped to schools starting sometime during the week of January 10.

The government of Alberta has put these measures in place as a way to help keep our students and staff as safe as possible and to keep in-person learning going in all of our schools. Thank you for your support and understanding.
