Board Highlights - January 21, 2025
Notice of Motion
The Board made a motion to direct administration to review and update our Administrative Procedure 165 Appendix B; Memorials in Schools, and our Crisis Intervention Manual to ensure that they address gaps in our procedures and to ensure they address the needs of our school community, particularly those who have experienced losses or traumatic events and are grieving, both in the short and long term. Additionally, the Board of Trustees extends its apologies to those who have been adversely affected by gaps in our current procedures.
Out of Country Field Trips
The Board approved in principle the Frank Maddock High School National Student Leadership Summit trip in July 2025 to Indianapolis and gave final approval to the West Central High School trip to California in February 2025.
Accountability Reports
The Director of Inclusive Services shared the highlights from her 2023-2024 Accountability Report, which included the increasing number of students with exceptionalities and also recognized some of the goals and achievements for Inclusive Services.
Village of Breton Proposal
The Village of Breton attended the board meeting to request that Wild Rose School division consider allowing the Village to obtain ownership of the newer portion of Breton Elementary School, (excluding it from demolition) which would include the gymnasium, music room, library, the playground and museum on the existing property. This would secure the museum for the community and provide opportunities for the residents of Breton. The Board is seeking additional information and will make a decision at a future board meeting.
