Out of Country Field Trips

The Board of Trustees gave final approval for two out of country field trips, one for West Central High School to Italy and Greece and one for Caroline School to Costa Rica, both during spring break this year.  They also approved in principle, two out of country field trips for Frank Maddock High School to attend the National Student Leadership Summit and a spring break 2020 trip to Spain and Portugal.

 

2019-2020 School Calendar

The Board was presented with a few possible versions of the 2019-2020 school calendar.  After discussing the advantages, disadvantages and differences between all of them and reviewing the feedback, they voted to approve version five for both the north and the south.

 

Accountability Reports

Our Director of Wellness, Darlene Ferris presented the 2017-2018 Wellness Accountability Report. She also reviewed the results from the recent Wellness Survey that was completed by over 300 Wild Rose School Division staff members.  The results will help the committee focus on the wellness needs for all staff members.

 

MLA - Jason Nixon

The Board of Trustees and Senior Leadership Team had a candid conversation with MLA, Jason Nixon about his party’s policies as it pertains to rural education in Alberta.  The discussion included many topics related to urban vs rural funding, new transportation regulations affecting school busing, government spending and possible efficiencies, budgets and the new curriculum including First Nations and Indigenous content.
