WRSD Continues to Support International Field Trips

At the Wild Rose School Division December 15 Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees gave their support to WRSD schools to continue participating in international field trips. The Board of Trustees feel that Administrative Policy 260 allows them to monitor world events and gives them the flexibility to cancel individual trips if needed.

One of the most important priorities here in WRSD is ensuring the health and safety of our students and staff. To maintain this, regardless of the situation, AP 260 allows for the cancellation of field trips by the Superintendent and Board of Trustees at any time, if situations change. The policy also requires Division Office involvement in the planning process and follow-up meetings to confirm the status of the trip. The Board formally reviews all international field trips within two months of departure to give final approval.

“Balancing learning opportunities, safety, cost and all of the factors that go into these field trips is never an easy task,” stated Chairperson, Mae Tryon. “Moving forward our Board of Trustees will continue to look at each case individually to assess the level of risk for our students and staff.”
